New York Times: Turkish Launch
New York Times: Turkish Edition from Quba Michalski on Vimeo.
Promotional video by Quba Michalski for the launch of the New York Times in Turkey. Effectively combines the subject matter of New York City itself as well as the newspaper in a creative and non-stereotypical fashion.

I love NY
I love Ny by John Militar. Effective use of type and image that communicates the city of New York competently. In particular, I like the street scene where yellow type is used to indicate taxis moving along a busy NY road.

Typolution
Brilliant animated sequence by Olivier Beaudoin. Perfectly communicates the environmental/pollution message through the use of letterform being used as image. I especially like the raining apostrophe's which splash back off the surface in the form of exclamation marks.

Catch Me If You Can opening title sequence
Catch Me If You Can title sequence by Kuntzel & Deygas. Fantastic use of simple imagery, signs, symbols and a limited colour palette to communicate the content of the film.

Quantum Of Solace Opening Sequence
Another really well produced James Bond film opening titles. Again the theme of the particular film is very well communicated through the animated sequence with solar flares and desert scenes inter-woven with typography title captions and the Bond character silhouette.
Casino Royale Title Sequence
Brilliant animated sequence from the opening titles of the 2007 James Bond film 'Casino Royale'. I think the video is really well choreographed and the casino theme is carried very well throughout with different elements such as the four suits used in cards, Kings/Queens& Jacks, roulette wheels all tied into a well established character.
Typography is what language looks like
This beautifully composed typography video sequence by Ellen Lupton is the perfect introduction to the 'Design for Digital' module. Seeing as we are meant to produce short videos about three given words using only letterform to communicate them, this sequence shows how carefully arranged type, colour and layout when combined with some fairly simple techniques can create a highly effective video.
